Olympic Games/ summer, 1964/ Tokyo/ Coubertin/ Jazy/ Philately/ Cartophily. Selection of 35 maximum 1st Day covers (Fdc) or cards attesting to the worldwide influence of these first Games in Asia, for the XVIII Olympiad. From this wide selection stand out: a) the autogrph by Jazy on a photo of the 5000m final: b) the FDC France envelope, for the Judo stamp, illustrated by Cello, which reads "Célébration du Centenaire de Pierre de Coubertin, renovateur des Jeux Olympiques...". But he was born in 1863, not 64, and c) the beautiful card with the Japanese Olympic flame on it, stamped in red. Next to it, the sarabande is beautiful with 6 max cards from San Marino, 4 FDC from Poland, 3 FDC from Upper Volta, two coins from Israel, etc., etc. Attached is a photo of Bikila, who is wearing shoes for his Olympic double in the marathon.
