Marcel LENOIR - Jules Oury dit (1872-1931), painter, engraver, draughtsman and illuminator: Autograph letter signed, 2 p in-8, to Henry Lapauze (1867-1925, Art critic and Curator of the Palais des Beaux-Arts), envelope preserved and enclosed (14.5 x 11.5 cm), with an original drawing executed by his hand, Lenoir and Lapauze were both natives of Montauban: he thanks him for his vote, "This purchase of my city [Montauban] has pleased me [....] All in all - I am happy and continue to follow my line of conduct in art without attaching any importance to the criticisms of newspapers and magazines, which are really too dissimilar. I am successful. I wanted it, I am happy with it, and as in life I have no other ambition than to paint, see that I am satisfied since I do not lack materials and models. I am finishing a portrait of my wife. I think it is the happiest painting of all those I have done so far.
