FRANCOIS ARAGO
Astronomer and physicist. He was President of the Executive Commission (Head of Government) in 1848 [Estagel /Roussillon 1786 - 1853] - Letter written and signed by his hand, 1 page in-4 plus address page with stamps and postmarks, headed "Institut de France. Royal Academy of Sciences. Le Secrétaire perpétuel de l'Académie", with the emblematic engraved vignette "Minerve", Paris, December 5, 1831, to British Physicist Michael FARADAY [1791-1867] in London. "Sir, the Academy has received the memoir you have kindly addressed to it: on a particular class of acoustic figures and on the forms affected by fluids placed on vibrating elastic surfaces. I have the honor to offer you its thanks. The work has been deposited in the Library of the Institute".
