Charles-Pierre PAJOL
Sculptor, son of General PAJOL. Author of the statue raised to his father for the city of BESANÇON and of the equestrian statue of NAPOLEON 1st on the bridge of MONTEREAU. (1812-1891) - Letter A.S. Versailles 31 Oct. 1860 - to M. de FORGES: "... my statue left the workshop on the 13th and was on its way to the founder. It was dragged by six large and big horses. This new image of the Commander on horseback crossed the fairground... the population and the garrison could already attend this triumphant march through our avenues... but what difficulties and fears... In memory of his great power, my equestrian statue was accompanied by a carriage carrying my two bas-reliefs and the colossal bust of General de MONTHION destined for a monument that his native city is raising for him: Saint-Denis de l'Ile BOURBON..." 4pp in-8°.
