Minister in 1830; imprisoned from August 26, 1830, to 1836—2 letters (A.S.) and 2 notes: He reminds Mr. Valain, deputy mayor of Tours, of his account from the jailer at the Vincennes Fortress on September 4. Note in-12° + Note on letterhead “Prosecutor’s Office of the Royal Court of Lyon” + Letter to Mr. D’AMBÉRIEU, in Ambérieux, AIN, August 14, 1840, 3 pages in-8°: Dear and worthy friend, you must have learned from your sister and from Mr. Lonchamp of the anxieties that plague me. With what is most precious to me in this world under threat, I feel that I could not live here long, tossed between hope and fear… ” + Letter from LYON, August 6, 1840, to Madame Veuve de TRICAUD, 3 pages, in-8°: “… an accident involving the carriage delayed my arrival in Paris by eight hours. I’ll leave it to you to imagine what I must have felt as I approached Rue Saint-Germain-des-Prés. My anxiety was so intense that I scarcely dared to cross the threshold of the house where I’m staying.
