PARIS. BICÊTRE PRISON – Letter signed by two administrators of the Department of PARIS. To Citizen LEROY, Steward at Bicêtre – Letterhead and stamp printed “COMMUNE OF PARIS” on February 28, 1793 – 1 page, in-4°: “A certain Étienne COUDUN, Citizen, has been placed in your facility among the prisoners, not by mistake, but because he had insulted a private citizen from whom he was begging for alms, and had struck him with a stick; however, since this man appears to have been sufficiently punished, we authorize you, Citizen, to transfer him to the ranks of the deserving poor so that, if he behaves well there, he may receive the assistance his situation requires.”
