ARCHAEOLOGY. OISE. 2 Autograph Letters Signed by Achille PEIGNÉ-DELACOURT (1797–1881), archaeologist, historian, and member of the Society of Antiquaries of France and the Society of Antiquaries of Picardy: “From the Château de Mailly to Ribécourt (Oise). Sir and esteemed Colleague. I was pleased to read the report you sent me regarding my memoir on the Norman incursions into the Noyon region; and if you are to do the same regarding my latest work on the campaign described in the 9-book account against the Bellovaci (Caesar’s Second Campaign), I beg you not to forget me… We archaeologists in the field are the only ones who can correct historical data… I have already met with the Emperor (Napoleon III) on this matter. I am to see him tomorrow morning. And please believe that I owe him the absolute truth… ” 3 pages, in-8° + “Ribécourt (Oise) 1859. My Dear Colleague, I do not know if my paper on Caesar’s bridge will be of interest to the Academic Society of Châlons, but I believe you will read it with pleasure…” 1 page, in-12°
