THE MOTHER OF GOD MONASTERY IN STEPANTSMINDA (GEORGIA) Negative glass plate photograph, circa 1900. This church and its exterior bell tower were built in the early 19th century by Armenian architect Poghos Mekertumov. The Russian and Armenian inscriptions on the pediment have since been hammered out. 6.3 x 9 cm. (here reproduced in positive)
