NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Rare. Apollo 11. Historic APOLLO 11 miss - Lot 87
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Rare. Apollo 11. Historic APOLLO 11 mission. Iconic view of the SATURNE V rocket preparing to carry the first men to the Moon from launch pad 39A at Cape Canaveral, Florida, on July 16, 1969. Period chromogenic print on "A KODAK PAPER" paper firmly held on a period card. 50.2 x 40.2 cm. Expert's Opinion: Large-format vintage NASA prints were intended for personalities in the American space program, as well as for political leaders. Their production was very limited, and many, after being on display for a few years during the golden age of the American space conquest, were destroyed. Most of the vintage prints were kept by engineers and personalities involved in the American space program and their heirs. These prints were first and foremost American Trophies, embodying America's triumphant victory in the Space Race. Condition: this historic vintage print shows cracks, stains, slight folding and discoloration. The starting price takes these elements into account, whereas a print of an equivalent image - subject to existence - in "standard" vintage condition would be at the median of the high and low estimates.
