NASA. LARGE FORMAT. After more than 13 years at Saturn, and - Lot 285
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. After more than 13 years at Saturn, and its fate sealed, NASA's Cassini probe bid farewell to the Saturnian system by firing up its wide-angle camera and capturing this last complete mosaic of Saturn and its rings, two days before its spectacular plunge into the planet's atmosphere. In all, 80 wide-angle images were acquired in just over two hours. This view is constructed from 42 of these wide-angle shots, taken with red, green and blue spectral filters, combined and mosaicked to create an image with natural colors. Six of Saturn's moons - Enceladus, Epimetheus, Janus, Mimas, Pandora and Prometheus - appear faintly in this image. (Numerous stars are also visible in the background.) Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin on the front. Legend on label on back. 50.8 x 50.8CM with margins.
