NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE telescope. A multi-wavelength ult - Lot 328
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. HUBBLE telescope. A multi-wavelength ultraviolet/visible/near-infrared observation of Jupiter obtained by NASA/ESA's Hubble Space Telescope on August 25, 2020 gives researchers an entirely new view of the giant planet. Hubble's near-infrared imaging, combined with ultraviolet views, provides a unique panchromatic image that gives insight into the altitude and haze and particle distribution of the planet. These images complement Hubble's visible-light images, which show the changing configuration of clouds. In this photo, the high-altitude parts of Jupiter's atmosphere, especially above the poles, are red, as atmospheric particles absorb ultraviolet light. Conversely, the blue areas represent the ultraviolet light reflected by the planet. A new storm at top left, which erupted on August 18, 2020, draws scientists' attention in this multi-wavelength view. The "clusters" that follow the white plume appear to absorb ultraviolet light, like the center of the Great Red Spot and the Red Spot Jr. just below it. This provides researchers with further evidence that this storm may last longer on Jupiter than most storms.Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering in the margin in the margin on the front.
