PUYSÉGUR (Louis-Pierre de CHASTENET, comte de) 1726-1806 Lieutenant-gal; Minister of War from Nov. 30. 1788 to July 12, 1789 then emigrated - Letter signed PUYSÉGUR, from VERSAILLES (78) March 24, 1789, to the Duc de CHATELET Colonel Commandant of the FRENCH GUARDS - concerning the named POIRIER Soldier in the Regiment of the French Guards, who was arrested by the Marshalsea of TOURS, and constituted in Prison for having asked for alms with uniform of the Corps and a sword, and about whom, at the request of Baron de BEZENVAL, Commander in Chief in the Provinces of the Interior of the Kingdom, I took the King's order, to have him led by the Maréchaussée from brigade to brigade to his Corps. You seem to believe that I have exceeded my powers in this respect, and undertaken on your authority, and you base your decision on the fact that the Colonel of the French Guards is particularly responsible for the discipline of this Regiment...". 2 folio pages.
