I agree with you, Sir, that the conduct of these soldiers is highly reprehensible, and I believe that both discipline and public order require that they be punished as severely as they deserve. With regard to the weapon carried by the soldier of the Guard, and which you would like to see discharged, I must confess that this is a very sensitive issue to touch; all the more so, as it would mean punishing an entire Regiment for a fault that belongs to only two or three men out of a strength of 800.
