Robert ERÉBO (born 1945) - Lot 69
Robert ERÉBO (born 1945) Tarzan, 1969. Collage on paper, signed and dated lower right. 65 x 50 cm. Robert Erébo, a historic artist of the École de Nice, pioneered the use of superheroes from American (Superman, Tarzan) and Italian (Amok the masked giant) comics. In the late 1960s, he practiced collage in the spirit of Richard Hamilton's pop art. He added a hint of protest, a touch of post-68 eroticism and a hippie universe, making his work highly singular and chronologically dated. In the 1970s, Erébo moved on to psychedelic ink drawings.
