GIEN Set of 6 rare earthenware plates illustrated with the theme "The Flying Man", series published in 1961 19 x 19 cm : - Imaginary flying ship, with title "Le vaisseau volant de Blanchard - 1783". - Flying man on an imaginary ship with the title "Ride to the moon - 1833". - Rocket man", the self-propelled man. Harold Graham, 1961. - Alan Shepard's Mercury capsule, 1st American astronaut in space. 1961. - John Glenn's Mercury capsule, 1st American astronaut in orbit. 1962. - Illustration inspired by Francis Godwin's novel with the caption: "Man in the Moon - 1666" (Francis Godwin was a great 17th-century English author). These earthenware plates date from 1961 and come from the French earthenware factory "Gien", founded in 1821, in the Loire Valley.
