FRANCE / Diamant (1965) Piece of thermal insulation panel from the first stage of the Diamant B rocket (52cm x 28cm) released during liftoff on March 10, 1970, from Kourou, French Guiana. Diamant is a French rocket first launched on November 26, 1965 from the Hammaguir base in Algeria. Diamant launched the 1st French satellite, Astérix, making France the world's 3rd largest space power.
