I just don't like having four hundred and quarters of pages cut out of me, as Mr. R[?] did in "Esther Waters" [nb: Moore's novel published in 1894, the story of an unmarried chambermaid knocked up and abandoned by a footman]. -He published a translation of "The End of Marie Pellegrin"[nb:Moore's short story later included in his "Memoirs of my dead Life", the pathetic fate of a Parisian prostitute in the late 19th century]. - "I look forward to your translation of "Ninon's Table d'hote"-I'm sure it will be nothing but excellent-and in order for me to appreciate it, please have it typed. And please write your name legibly for I cannot decipher it and am reduced to making it up."
