Cycling / Tour / Blondin Jean-Pierre DJIVANIDES (1953) Portr - Lot 146
Cycling / Tour / Blondin Jean-Pierre DJIVANIDES (1953) Portrait of Antoine Blondin (1922-1991) Acrylic ink on paper, framed, signed 40 x 30 cm (on view) Sublime original portrait signed by Jean-Pierre Djivanides in 1995 for the magazine "Lire", captioned by the talented Bernard Morlino. All of Blondin is here, evaporated and genial, dreamy and lightning-fast, not giving the impression of touching, but a connoisseur to the devil. He's the Bard of the Tour's Bards. Do you remember that he was also the Tour's best prognosticator? The late Jacques Augendre, Denis Lalanne, Pierre Chany and Alain de Chantérac wrote fervently about the life and inspiration of this phenomenon, who lived and breathed the Tour like nobody else. Battling with the blank page, the erasures and the inkwells, they regaled us with 524 flamboyant chronicles between 1954 and 1982. This hand- and elbow-lifted portrait is a fine addition to the gallery of photographic achievements by Gaston-François Bergeret, Bruno Bade and Gilles Montgermont.
