RELIQUE Wrought-iron supplicate nail Accompanied by a text stating: "This nail, brought back from Palestine in 1856 by Viscount Edmond de Layrolles, comes from excavations carried out at the top of Calvary in the XIVᵉ century. It is certain that this nail pierced the limb of a supplicant nailed to a cross; the fact, undeniable, leaves one dreaming. Offered to His Holiness the Pope, the latter refused it, fearing that said nail was that of one of the odious thieves who perished alongside the divine Savior." H.12cm
