Boxing / Marcel Cerdan / Déro / Morocco - Lot 21
Boxing / Marcel Cerdan / Déro / Morocco Robert Décremps, alias DÉRO (1920-2000) Caricature of Marcel Cerdan India ink on paper, signed, captioned 50 x 39 cm Original illustration for Pierre Cangioni's "La Fabuleuse Histoire de la Boxe" (1977). Robert Parienté, head of "L'Equipe", used to say: "A drawing by Déro, in terms of punch and power, is worth the best editorial". Born in 1916 in Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria, Marcel was nicknamed the Moroccan Bombardier because he trained in Casablanca in the ring of his father's café. In 1949, however, the plane was to prove fatal for our champion, who was on his way to the USA to defend his world middleweight title.
