Cycling / Tour / Charles Pélissier / Photos Italian-style ph - Lot 54
Cycling / Tour / Charles Pélissier / Photos Italian-style photo album featuring 5 postcards and over 60 photographs, hardcover (20x30) The album's contents illustrate all the champions and major races from 1930 to 34, with large- and medium-format photos, often rare or unknown, in the wake of Charles Pélissier. With Charlot as your guide, you'll roam the velodromes (Parc des Princes, Buffalo, Vel'd'Hiv) with the GP des Nations omnium, France-Italie, France-Etrangers, the omnium des routiers, the Prix Emile Engel, the Fête de la Glace, the Critérium d'Hiver and the Six Jours. But also all the major road races: the Tour de France (departure from Dinan-Brest 31, winner in Les Sables, entry to the Parc etc.). The classics: Paris-Roubaix (Bidot crash, 1932), Bordeaux-Paris finishes (Van Risselberghe finish at the Parc, 1931, rainy finish in 1932), Paris-Tours, Paris-St Etienne, Critérium des As à Longchamp, Circuit de Paris, etc. Many of the original photos, captioned on the spine, still have their little fixings in the four corners. Charles is joined by Leducq, Magne, Richard, Lemoine, Aerts, Di Pacco, Romain Maes, Lapébie, Dinale, Binda and even Frankenstein. Maréchal, Ronsse, Guerra, Blanchonnet, Hammerlink, or Renaud and Francis. As for Charles coming out of the Buffalo tunnel for the 1931 Wolber Prize, you won't forget him... This album is also a tribute to the heroic work of our photographers.
