Horseracing / Song / Sheet music / Champ de Mars / Lord Seymour Two pieces on the beginnings of the world of racing and sporting practices: - Very rare little musical form, music by Chevalier Lagoanere (1792-1840), lyrics by Alexandre A. de Berruyer (1804-1864), circa 1835. Illustrated with a scene of an animated race on the Champ de Mars, an unruly horse, to get to the bell. Sent to Lord H. Seymour: "Vole, vole mon bon cheval, ou la course au Champ de Mars... Galop...". Imp. Lemoine et Cie. 4 pages, with tax stamp, royal stamp on 4th. - Canvas chromolithograph: "Aux courses", circa 1880. 23 x 33 cm. Chic spectators jostle each other, men in top hats, women in long dresses. The judge holds the flag, and the two jockeys wearing scarves and riding crops fly over the obstacle.
