Original illustrations for "La Fabuleuse histoire du Rugby" by Henri Garcia, published by Odil in 1973.
Jacques Fouroux (1947-2005), corporal with a bicorne as large as a Napoleonic sail. We meet the faces of his guard, whom the little captain (1.62 m) cornaquait to the devil, and who would have followed him to hell (Skrela, Bastiat, Rives, Imbernon, Palmié, Paparemborde, Paco and Cholley). In 27 caps (1972-1977), he revolutionized Ovalie. His 1977 Grand Slam will go down in history. This firebrand of genius went on to become a manager and coach.
Richard Astre, the brilliant scrum-half of Béziers and the French national team, was cast in the shadow of the Napoleonic bicorne of the little Fouroux. It has been said that the Auscitain had a mason's touch, but he was also a terrible leader of men. The brilliant technician paid the price, consoling himself with 6 Brennus (1971-1978) and 12 caps (1971-1976).
