Rugby / Aguirre / Paco / Déro / Bagnères / Béziers - Lot 183
Rugby / Aguirre / Paco / Déro / Bagnères / Béziers Robert Décremps, alias DÉRO (1920-2000) Two caricatures: Jean-Michel Aguirre and Alain Paco India ink on paper, signed, captioned 50 x 39 cm Original illustrations for "La Fabuleuse histoire du Rugby" by Henri Garcia, published by Odil in 1973. The archangel Jean-Michel Aguirre, or the wrath of God, pierces walls and defenses like lightning. The successor to the valiant Villepreux at Les Bleus, he was the last line of defence 39 times between 1971 and 1980, and often the first striker. An essential member of the Iron XV in the 1977 Grand Slam. Paco as a rocket, piercing defenses and walls. Heel strikers as powerful as Alain are rare, and Déro's eye didn't miss them. A 6-time French champion with Béziers, the man who turned defenses into sieves was honored 35 times by Les Bleus (1974-1980). He was also one of Corporal Fouroux's XV iron men during the legendary Grand Slam of 1977.
