TYROL. ARMISTICE - Translation of the letter from Baron de BUOL Major General and Corps Commander at TYROL, to Major General Comte de l'Empire DU TAILLIS, in MUNICH. - BRIXEN July 21, 1809: "It is with great surprise that I received the letter you honored me with on the 19th of this month. Up to this moment I have not received the slightest advice either from H.H. Imp. the Archduke Generalissimo, or from other authorities concerning the ARMISTICE concluded, nor in relation to the events of war which preceded it. ... In the meantime, and even though nothing can be changed in the line of outposts, all hostilities will cease immediately, in the certain expectation that the reciprocal will take place on your side. On the first unofficial news we received of the object in question, we sent a courier to F.M. L. BANNIER de CROATIE Comte de GIULAY as being the closest to us, in order to receive the Army Commander's orders in this regard as soon as possible...".
