"...The Brig L'INCONSTANT is to be launched in six months' time, i.e. in May; you know my claims, I have not given them up. As I believe it will be the Grand Duchess who will ask the Minister for this command for the Officers she has chosen. I would like Her Majesty to recommend me to Her Highness and ask her for the command of L'INCONSTANT... If Her Majesty writes to the Grand Duchess, she should say: Mr de MACKAU Second du Brig L'ABEILLE. My dear Annette, in the present state of our Navy, the Command of a Brig is the most suitable thing for a young man... I kiss you a thousand and one times."
