Radiant Reliquary (djadjandj / ճաճանչ) - Lot 150
Radiant Reliquary (djadjandj / ճաճանչ) On the main face, the Resurrection of Christ surrounded by a cloud of cherubs. On the rear face, an undetermined relic in an oval theca under glass surrounded by a cloud of cherubs surmounted by the Lamb of God. Mounted on a tapered silver sleeve, engraved with an Armenian cross. Silver, gilt silver and vermeil. Constantinople, early 19th century. H: 50.5 cm. The djadjandj, an altar ornament linked to the Resurrection of Christ, is unique to Armenian liturgical furnishings. It may or may not include relics.
