LÉOPOLD 1er de LORRAINE (Innsbruck 1729 - Lunéville/ Meurthe - Lot 90
LÉOPOLD 1er de LORRAINE (Innsbruck 1729 - Lunéville/ Meurthe-et-Moselle 1729) Duke of Lorraine and Bar from 1690 to 1729 - Manuscript of 8 pages (36 x 23.5 cm) from NANCY April 2, 1771. Petition for Noble Charles Guillaume PACQUOTTE, Doctor of Medicine and Surgeon in the University of PONT-A-MOUSSON, who complains that the Master Surgeons of NANCY examine those who present themselves, even if he presents a certificate of capacity. "In a spirit of jealousy and self-interest, Messieurs les chirurgiens composent la communauté de NANCY have recently taken it into their heads to re-examine surgeons who have studied in Pont-à-Mousson, under your Professor of Surgery, not so as to know of their capacity sufficiently proven by the suppliant, but to draw each one the token, and make these poor people pay to their common purse enough to compensate them for the lawsuits they ill-advisedly bring every day...". Subscription signed LÉOPOLD 1er, Lunéville February 4, 1771; LÉOPOLD orders the NANCY surgeons to explain themselves within a week.
