Baron Joseph de MORAND, Major General, Governor of CORSICA and Pomerania (Allemans / Dordogne 1757 - Killed in action 1813). Autograph letter signed MORAND, engraved letterhead, at Headquarters in Paris on 14 Messidor An 9 (July 3, 1801), addressed to his compatriot POUTARD Notary in Sourzac, Dordogne (General's Franchise Contreseing). 2 pages in-4°: "Ma mère m'a communiqué, Citoyen, votre lettre... (pour) Le Citoyen BOYER Sergent Major de la 30e Demi-Brigade. I have written immediately to request that he be granted a Congé de convalescence (convalescent leave), I hope... that the troop movements taking place in Italy will not be an obstacle to this, All my thanks for the care you are giving us for our affairs in the Dordogne department." He asks if he can make a considerable cut of wood, "wanting to make an acquisition in the vicinity of Paris..." He asks that he be included on the Tableau "des Citoyens susceptibles d'être élu au Corps Législatif, mon absence du Département pour cause de service militaire ne doit pas m'empêcher de figurer sur ce Tableau... Mon épouse et ma mère vous disent bien des choses."
