GUIZOT (François-Pierre-Guillaume) Historian and statesman. He was LOUIS-PHILIPPE's real Head of Government from 1840 to 1848 (Nîmes/ Gard 1787 - 1874). 1 page in-8°. Autograph letter signed GUIZOT, May 19, 1821, to his Publisher: "I am sending you, Sir, the first volume of the Novel, plus the text of the 8th and 9th drawings. The 7th will be the portrait of M. OBERLIN, which I will give you. I'll send you the second volume of the Novel within the next few days. I told you I needed a thousand francs, which you owe me on delivery of these two volumes, in the first days of June... Madame ROLLAND's memoirs have not been brought to me. Please think about it."
