It was not at the beginning of the War" but long before, that I asked you to suspend your mailings...; I will not publish any books before the end of the war, as my works are purely artistic, and would have no reason to appear at such a time. You tell me that you have continued to collect articles about me. I'd have qualms about accepting them free of charge, and on the other hand it would be impossible for me to pay for them, as I'm one of those to whom life is very hard at the moment, all my artistic collaborations having been cut off altogether, and my situation obliges me to leave no stone unturned... When events permit, I'll be the first to ask for your service again. Camille MAUCLAIR."
