NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Spectacular photograph of the Dragon Nebula, some 4,000 light-years from Earth. It is 55 light-years wide and 20 light-years high. This is an extremely turbulent region of Deep Space, where stars are formed. This photograph is a detail, measuring some 4 million light-years. This nebula was catalogued in 1654 by the Italian astronomer Giovanni Alttista Hodierna, who was mapping nebulous objects so that they would not be confused with comets. This photograph was taken by the Wide Field Camera 3 on the HUBBLE space telescope between February 12 and 18, 2018. Vintage chromogenic print. Numbering on front.
