Cycling / Cycletouring / Louis Baudry de Saunier 2 basic works by the 1st memoirist and popularizer of cycling history: - "L'Art de bien monter à bicyclette", 1894, hardback, 160 pages. Cover by Georges Genilloud, preface by Bordeaux pioneer Maurice Martin. This abundantly illustrated book explores all facets of the thrilling bicycle, including good addresses, period newspapers and advertisements. In its pages, a 4-leaf clover - L'Histoire générale de la vélocipédie", 1901 (2nd edition), 322 pages, 150 engravings. Preface by Jean Richepin. Bonus: 22 pages of velocipedic expressions. Two Hors-Catégories for summit collectors. De Saunier, whom our late and invaluable friend Keizo Kobayashi, author of the world's 1st great cycling bibliography, called "the Victor Hugo of the cycle", was born in 1865 (like Desgrange) 5 minutes from here, and was the son of an auctioneer, which explains why Maître Vermot owns his entire immense oeuvre. He died in 1938.
