Olympic Games / Berlin 1936 Official torch of the Berlin Summer Games, XI Olympiad 1st official torch and 1st Olympic relay torch of the modern era Steel, designed and manufactured by Carl Diem, Walter E. Lemcke / Friedrich Krupp AG The decoration features the route of the Flame, from Olympia to Berlin (3075 km), covered in 12 days by some 3700 torchbearers, topped by the Olympic eagle and rings and the 3-line inscription: "Fackel Staffel Lauf Olympia Berlin 1936". The hearth apron, forming a guard (diam. 16 cm), bears the inscription "Organisations-Komitee für die XI. Olympiade Berlin 1936". Krupp-Nirosta V2A Stiftung Derfried , Krupp A.G. Essen" on the bottom of the handle, under the collar. Height 27 cm The original torch measures 27 cm in height, not to be confused with the 1972 Munich tribute print, which measures 27.2 cm.
