The Coronation of Louis XV, King of France and Navarre, in the Cathedral of Reims, on Sunday, October 25, MDCCXXII. Large in-plano volume, atlas format, bound in full brown morocco leather with gold-tooled royal coat of arms centered on the cover. Entirely engraved on copper, comprising 72 plates, including 33 of text and 39 of illustrations: 30 plates of portraits in costume and 9 engraved panels on large fold-out sheets depicting the coronation ceremonies. Edited by Antoine Danchet under the direction of Jean-Paul Bignon and Claude Gros de Boze. This major work had been in preparation since the coronation of Louis XV in 1722 and was presented to the king in 1731. The frontispiece, engraved by Larmessin, bears no place, date, or publisher’s name, as it was a personal gift to the King. Dimensions: 65 x 48 cm Cover detached and worn, tear, signs of moisture
