FERRON Théophile Adrien (Eure-et-Loir 1830 - 1894) General, - Lot 668
FERRON Théophile Adrien (Eure-et-Loir 1830 - 1894) General, Polytechnicien, Engineering Officer. He was Minister of War in the ROUVIER Cabinet in 1887, and dismissed BOULANGER. Member of the Conseil supérieur de la Guerre - Letter A.S. Général FERRON Commandant le 18° Corps d'Armée. - BORDEAUX August 24, 1890 - 2pp in-8° - "Dear Mr DELPIT. The author of Les coulisses du BOULANGISME implicates me in his second article. Would you be good enough to ask Mr. MAGNARD on my behalf for a denial. This denial cannot be made in my name, as I would need the authorization of the Minister, who would surely not give it to me, but it could be worded as follows: "We are in a position to assert that General FERRON did not see Mr. Président du Conseil ROUVIER, nor Mr. Préfet de Police GRAGNON, on the evening of the Territorial Officers' Ball, i.e. June 1st or 2nd 1887. He could not have heard the words that the author behind the scenes attributes to the President of the Council. The truth is that, after leaving the Ministry, General PERRON, when questioned by politicians about the chances of a coup de force while he was Minister of War, replied clearly that General BOULANGER would only have had a chance of success if he had carried out Mr. NAQUET's plans during the evening of the Territorial Officers' Ball or on the day of the July 14th review. Outside these two days, his chances of success would have been absolutely nil...".
