NASA. First zenithal observation (1/3) of the eye of Typhoon - Lot 250
NASA. First zenithal observation (1/3) of the eye of Typhoon Yuri from the space shuttle ATLANTIS (Mission STS-44). The astronauts of the space shuttle ATLANTIS took 3 photographs of this Typhoon, making up a unique series. Taken with a 70mm lens, this photograph gives an excellent and very rare view of the eye wall of the cyclone. This is located at an altitude of approximately 14 to 16 kilometers above the ocean. Here, the eye is filled with clouds, but in the 3rd photograph of the series, the eye gives a glimpse of the ocean through its thickness. November 1991. Vintage chromogenic print on "KODAK" paper. NASA logo and numbering in the margin. NASA logo and typed caption on back. 25.4 X 20.3CM with margins.
