The siege of Philippsburg, which took place from June 2 to July 18, 1734, was an episode in the War of the Polish Succession, caused by the death of Polish King Augustus II in 1733, with international repercussions in Germany and Italy, where Louis XV's France was fighting the House of Austria, then led by Emperor Charles VI.
Format 37x57.80cm on Villedary watermarked laid paper with crowned fleur-de-lys. The sheet is lengthened by a 15 cm seam on the cartouche side.
Scale of 400 toises, approx. 1/6900
Traces of folding, slight old restoration by adding paper, not very visible, scattered pitting and marks, pinholes, the document having certainly been closed in this way.
