NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Impressive Hitchokian view of the central peak of the lunar crater COPERNICUS. This photograph reveals the geological complexity of the lunar crust through distinct layering and uneven surface brightness. The Copernicus crater is around 860 million years old. It is well preserved with over 4,000 meters of relief from floor to rim, and the highest of its central peaks rises some 1,300 meters above the crater floor. 2012. Vintage chromogenic print.
