Comte GÉRARD Etienne Maurice (1773-1855) General of the Empire, Marshal of France in 1830. Minister, Senator and Deputy. Letter signed "Maréchal Comte Gérard" to the Superintendent of the LEGION D'HONNEUR in SAINT-DENIS (93). Paris, February 1, 1837. 1p (24 x 19): "Madame la Surintendante,... My wife and I are extremely grateful for your kind invitation, but it will be impossible for us to go to Saint-Denis for dinner, as we have made arrangements that we can no longer change, and which will keep us in Paris all day". He asks for the precise time at which the Fête des Élèves will begin: "I would be very happy to be informed tomorrow as soon as possible, as we are very anxious to arrive exactly...".
