Comte de SÉGUR-D'AGUESSEAU Raymond Joseph Paul (Paris 1803 - - Lot 587
Comte de SÉGUR-D'AGUESSEAU Raymond Joseph Paul (Paris 1803 - Château d'Oléac-Debat/ Hautes-Pyrénées 1889) Magistrate, Prefect Deputy of Hautes-Pyrénées in 1837 and 1849 and Senator - Autograph letter signed Paris July 18, 1859, rue neuve St Augustin N°46. "My dear Mocquard. As soon as I heard that the Emperor (Napoleon III) was going to return to Paris after this incomparable six-week campaign, I couldn't stand it, and although I've barely been settled for a month in OLÉAC (Château d'OLÉAC, Hautes-Pyrénées), I have left my wife and children (to the acclaim of all), and have been staying in Paris for the past 3 days, with the sole but ardent ambition of seeing the Emperor and speaking to His Majesty, if only when he passes through the Galerie de Saint-Cloud. I am therefore writing to His Majesty to ask for this favor; it is to you that I entrust my letter and the success of my request. The Emperor will not want me to have the sorrow of returning without having had the good fortune to reach the sole goal of my 400-hour journey! Tell me also how I can shake your hand and talk with you for a moment about so many great things...". 3 pages in-8°, small tear.
