Two Andalusian Qur'an leaves Fragment of 4 pages from an illuminated manuscript on parchment, comprising the complete sura az-Zalzalah (XCIX), from verse 8 of al-Bayyinah (XCIIX) to verse 1 of al-iyat (C). Single-column text, 6 lines in sepia, two illuminated sura titles in kufic script with marginal rosettes, in gold and outlined in blue, diacritics and vocalization in green and orange. 17 x 14 cm (writing area: 11.5 x 8.5 cm). Al-Andalus, or Muslim Spain, 14th century. A few damp stains along the upper edge of the bifolium, central split along the upper edge, small tear with slight loss on the upper margin of one leaf (does not affect the text). Sura az-Zalzalah (The Earthquake) evokes the Day of Judgment, when the earth itself will shake violently to bring to the surface all man's good and bad deeds, and testify in his favor or against him before Allah.
