CHAMPAGNE. 1569. VAUCOULEURS (Meuse). Decree, in the name of “CHARLES IX, by the Grace of God, King of France,” issued at JOINVILLE (Haute-Marne) on February 5, 1569. “Our dear and beloved Bonaventure de COURBON, widow of the late Sieur Pierre de ROTIGOTI, who during his lifetime was a Knight of our Order, has brought to our attention that the late King, our father, had granted to the late de ROTIGOTI and to her, in connection with their marriage, the sum of twelve thousand livres tournois, and until full payment thereof, had granted and bequeathed to them the use of our estate at VAUCOULEUR (Vaucouleurs, Meuse), along with its forests, revenues, and appurtenances; this gift took effect following its revision at our estate, whereupon we ordered that it be paid from the funds of our savings… it pleased us to grant him an annuity… ” Parchment (58 x 32 cm).
