SARTHE. 1816 ORDINANCE OF KING LOUIS XVIII, Issued in Paris on July 24, 1816, concerning disarmament. “Having been informed that a very large number of military weapons are in the hands of private individuals; that the free trade in such weapons has been prohibited… Desiring to put an end to the abuses that have multiplied, and to collect weapons of war, either to store them in arsenals or to arm the National Guard in those places where it will be activated…”.
