NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Solar observation. - Lot 229
NASA. LARGE FORMAT. Solar observation. Coronal Mass Ejection (CME), 2002. This image shows a massive coronal mass ejection (CME) observed by the SOHO spacecraft. More than a billion metric tons of gas are ejected into space at several million kilometers per hour. The black disk masks the Sun to make its corona visible, while an image of its surface has been added in the center. The image has been rotated 90° to better highlight the eruption. This photograph illustrates the power of solar storms and their role in space weather. Vintage chromogenic print. Numbered on the front. Caption on a label on the back. 40.6 x 40.6 cm with margins.
