Jean EFFEL (1908–1982, illustrator and editorial cartoonist) / “The Creation of the World,” the first Franco-Czechoslovak animated feature film, directed in 1958 by Eduard Hofman based on the drawings and verses of Jean EFFEL: An important collection of 6 typewritten drafts of Jean Effel’s screenplay, preserved in their original canvas folder titled by Effel, each about fifty pages in quarto format—two of these typescripts are annotated, revised, and corrected in Effel’s own hand, spanning 19 pages for one and 22 pages for the other – 2 are marked by Effel as “to be cut,” and indeed show direct cuts (made with scissors) in the text - 1 is titled “numbered text,” with the text divided by Effel into sequences and numbered from 1 to 276 – 1 typescript is blank / Enclosed: “La Création du Monde” by Jean EFFEL, a rare original poster from 1962, the release year of this first feature-length animated film, at Studio 43 in Paris (40 x 54 cm, missing the upper left corner and with surface creases)
