DOM GUERANGER (Prosper, 1805–1875, the monk who reestablishe - Lot 338
DOM GUERANGER (Prosper, 1805–1875, the monk who reestablished Solesmes Abbey and revived the Benedictine Order in France; his diocesan beatification process began in 2005) / Signed autograph letter, 1 p., small in-4, Solesmes Abbey, January 15, 1851, to Monsignor Dominique-Augustin Dufêtre, Bishop of Nevers: “I would have been as happy as I would have been honored to be able to provide Your Excellency with the preacher you desire for the Jubilee of your episcopal city, but unfortunately I have only one of my monks who engages even slightly in preaching, and I do not believe him capable of making a profound impression, as would be necessary in the city of Nevers. This monk, Dom Gardereau, will be preaching during Lent this year in Rennes” (Eugène Gardereau, 1806–1888)
