FRANCHE-COMTÉ – Haute-Saône – Gaston PRINET (1858–1933, diplomat, descended from an old Franche-Comté family of royal notaries and magistrates, owner of the Château de Suaucourt in La Roche-Morey) / A significant collection of documents related to a historical work by Gaston Prinet: the translation of the war diary of Bavarian Prince Auguste de Tour-et-Taxi (1794–1862) recounting the 1814 French Campaign (Napoleonic Wars), it includes: the complete autograph manuscript, heavily corrected and crossed out (381 pages, large 8vo, 16 x 20 cm), interspersed with numerous sheets of notes; approximately 30 pages of preparatory notes (some on the backs of reused envelopes addressed to him); the correspondence between General Jean-Lucien de MONTDESIR (1857–1943) and Prinet, who served as his military “consultant”: 6 signed autograph letters and the return of a portion of a manuscript that has been fully corrected (approximately 25 double pages in-4 format, with Prinet’s manuscript on one side and the General’s notes and corrections on the opposite side (these corrections were sent in the preserved envelopes, addressed to the Château de Suaucourt); correspondence from the Austrian industrialist and major collector Karl GERLINGHAUS (1 signed autograph card and 1 typewritten letter, with signed autograph drafts of Prinet’s reply, regarding gifts of prints; 1 signed autograph letter from Alfred DUMAINE, a diplomat and historian, stating that the Prince of Tour-et-Taxi had served in Napoleon’s armies until 1812
