I have just asked my friend VOUCHON to renew my subscription. At this moment, I am finishing the beautiful episode of the Siege of Lyon in my major work; If, after the monster trial—which will inevitably end in a series of irregularities—you think this account might interest the people of Lyon, I would be happy to send it to you for inclusion in your volumes. I eagerly await your newspaper’s verdict on my third volume; better than the first, containing nothing that sounds out of place or smacks of heresy…” + 39 Rue Neuve St. Roch, January 19, 1839.
