Philippe CRESPIN DU BEC (1519-1605)

Bishop of VANNES (1559-1566), Bishop of NANTES (1566-1594) and Archbishop of REIMS (1594-1605). Master of the King's Chapel and Commander of the Order of the Holy Spirit. He is the second son of Charles du Bec, Lord of Bourri and Vardes, Vice Admiral of France. He attended the Council of Trent. L.A.S. as Bishop of NANTES, to the Apostolic Nuncio; NANTES (44) on 19 March 1582. 1p in-folio. Stamp. Tearing by removing two lines of text. He addressed Sieur Guillemyer to him to discuss with him about the deanery of Nantes. He would like to follow in this respect the example of the Cardinals of Lorraine and Créqui his predecessors; moreover, he has conferred some with the Cardinal of Bourbon.
